Sound Bath at the Lifelong Learning Center

  • Lifelong Learning Center 310 S Curtis St Missoula USA (map)

Sound Healing, or Sound Bath, is a meditative experience that uses resonant sounds and harmonics to intentionally promote relaxation, anxiety reduction, and meditative brain states for the well-being of the recipient. Instruments such as crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, chimes, gong, and drums are used to immerse you in healing frequencies and sound waves at specific intervals. During a Sound Bath, you simply make yourself comfortable, usually lying down on a yoga mat with eyes closed, follow a few guided breathing exercises, then receive the healing sounds. Because our bodies are mostly water, sound waves travel through us. Sound Healing has been shown to activate our parasympathetic nervous system, reduce the stress hormone cortisol, and increase oxytocin and endorphins, as well as promoting slower brain wave states, such as Alpha and Theta. These states are associated with meditation, daydreaming, and deep relaxation, and promote cellular regeneration and anxiety reduction. Please bring a yoga mat, small blanket and pillow.
